Pizza Hut said it is lowering and simplifying the menu prices at its restaurants nationwide, pricing most medium pizzas at $8 and large pizzas at $10. The $8 and $10 prices are good for pizzas with up to three toppings. There is an additional charge for the chain’s Stuffed Crust Pizza, and specialty pies cost an extra $2, Pizza Hut said Thursday.
The price change follows Pizza Hut's “$10 Any Pizza” promotion, which debuted at the beginning of the year. Parent company Yum! Brands Inc. has cited the $10 deal for driving sales at the pizza chain, which had domestic same-store sales increases of 5 percent in the first quarter and 8 percent in the second quarter. The new pricing structure is available in two-thirds of Pizza Hut restaurants now and will be implemented nationally next month, the chain said.
“This isn’t just another deal; this is an everyday menu pricing change taking place,” said Brian Niccol, Pizza Hut's chief marketing officer. “High, overcomplicated pricing has been a category issue in the pizza world for the last several decades. Much like our $10 Any Pizza shifted America’s focus on how much a single pizza should cost, our new pricing structure will set the industry tone for what is a holistic, everyday value solution.” In addition to value, Niccol said the new pricing strategy offers simplification and transparency.
