I live in a van. Yeah, down by the river. And I dance nekkid for money. Weird, I know, but it's my path, and it's full of beauty and bliss. I hope my writings will inspire you to look inward to your own bliss. If you want to live in a van or be a stripper, then wow, I've got some tips for you.

Hobo Stripper is a blog that I (used to) update daily, sharing useful information and gritty, inspiring stories of my life as a hobo and a stripper. Many people like to live a little vicariously through my adventures. Others come here looking for information on their favorite plant or wondering how to really sell a gazillion lapdances a night. Hopefully, some of you are inspired through my adventures to ditch lifestyles that don’t suit you and follow your dreams.

My name is Tara and I live in a van. Down by the river. And I dance nekkid for money.

I grew up in Alaska, where I developed a passion for independence and learned not to be brainwashed by the dominant culture. In my teens I moved to the lower forty eight and traveled to live in seven different states in two years before I settled down and finished my BA in Psychology. But that was enough conventional living for me! As soon as I finished my degree I moved into a bus (though I quickly downsized to a van) and took off on an epic hobo stripping adventure. I’ve learned how to insulate my van windows with reflectix and how to squat inside the van and pee out of it. I’ve refined my lapdancing skills in a dozen states. I’ve met Jesus in a truckstop, spent weeks camping in canyons and by rivers, had a blissed out hippie rapper for Jesus on my bus, taught herbs in the tittie bar, learned about pimps, and had a lot of beautiful moments. I figure all this should be shared with the world, so I’m doing my best.

I felt like I’d been ’schooled by the time I finished the Hobo Stripper’s blog end to end. Aside from the afore-mentioned topics, she also waxes on the joys of living in Alaska, making righteous plant medicine on the road, interviewing her mom, and being a lifer in the stripper biz who has no interest in a “real” job. She’s such a good writer. And a DIYer. I got lost in her blog for hours. Don’t know whether to change my oil or shave my bottom next. - Susie Bright

She lives in a van and strips for a living. It’s got a kind of technomad, crimethinc, pre-post-proto cyberpunk feel to it; she almost seems to me like a character from a science fiction novel just past Delany but not yet to Gibson. fashionbeast

The hobo stripper is an intelligent woman, traveling across America, who often relates her experiences with drunken men, their money, and living in a van. She’s well read, has a degree in psychology, and her easy going hippy vibe lets her casually speak of events most would mention only after taking an oath in court. - Nathan
