The snack brand hosts a contest that will bring a live band to play ‘virtual’ gigs on lucky fans’ computers.
Doritos recently launched its Mariachi Doritos Tour, which features a five-person mariachi band that will tour the UK. Created by digital agency AMV BBDO, London, this fun and unique campaign follows the Mariachi Doritos band as it brings Mexican fun to house parties by performing British pop classics such as ‘Don’t You Want Me’ by The Human League. In addition to popping up at random spots to play a little tune, the band will also host live virtual concerts for a few lucky fans. On Doritos’ Facebook page, users can sign up to win a personalized online performance that will be streamed via webcam.
Previous gigs, as well as the band’s UK performances, are available for viewing on the page. With the tag line ”For fun, add a little Mexican,” the campaign is an interesting example of how companies are increasingly harnessing both the physical and virtual marketplace for promotional purposes.
