Swedish furniture behemoth IKEA has opened a new lounge at Charles de Gaulle Airport’s Terminal 3. The lounge was opened earlier today as a family-friendly space where waiting passengers can sit down, relax and even take a nap in one of the nine bedrooms.

Qualified instructors will be on hand to entertain children as their parents and guardians take advantage of the company’s kindness. IKEA hopes the new lounge will help to sooth nervous and stressed holiday-goers this summer.

In addition to those nine bedrooms, the 220 sq. ft/721 sq. m ‘Ikea Lounge: the first democratic airport lounge’ will be furnished with sofas and televisions in an attempt to remind you why your front room is so much better than organising a trip or interacting with the rest of the human race in general.

It’s a smart idea. Usually when you’ve packed your luggage, made the journey to the airport, checked-in and made your way though security, all you want to do when you’re in the departure lounge is rest. And what better way to show off your bedrooms than offer them to weary travelers who will appreciate them the most. The lounge will remain open until August 5th.
