London's most expensive bicycle has been unveiled. Costing an eye-watering £25,000 the two-wheeler, dubbed The Brogue, comes complete with diamond-encrusted handlebars and fine leather upholstery. The brainchild of jeweller Nicholas Fitch, of Nicholas James, and leather designer Simon Harcourt the vehicle took eight weeks to create. But any deep-pocketed purchaser hoping to whizz around the city roads on their new gadget better be warned as Fitch says that it's 'not for rushing around on'.
Fixed-gear freestyle rider Chris Delia worked on the design and fitting of the bike visiting the duo at Highgate and Nicholas James’s workshops in Hatton Garden. Fitch worked to adorn the handlebar stops, which are cast in sterling silver and have been finished with a rim of chocolate brown diamonds - which are said to complement the patina of the laser cut Italian tanned leather It also comes complete with matching saddle bag, individually woven leather handlebar grips - and at one point there was even talk of including a pipe holder.
Harcourt, founder of Harcourt Design, has spent more than a decade building a reputation as one of the UK’s leading specialist in interior leather design. Speaking of their collaboration, Fitch added: 'Simon and I are both maniacal when it comes to getting things right. This has been a great opportunity to marry our two arts together.
