Nike has partnered with Random Hacks of Kindness to ask manufacturers and innovators to utilize sustainable materials in accordance with the Nike Sustainable Materials Index. This microsite allows people to evaluate the materials they use according to their impact on the environment, assessing them in four areas: waste, water, chemistry, and energy.
Over the past eight years, Nike has gathered the best publicly available information to develop the index, which can be used as a tool for product designers to select materials that are better for the environment. The brand, together with W+K Portland, also created a video celebrating those who make things with their hands, which you can see below:
