Ramdohr Arquitectos was tasked to make significant development both for the architecture and construction including remodeling and expansion of the Casa Carreño. The dream home is located hillside in Sta. Maria de Manquehue. The resulting modern architecture is quite outstanding and the house floor plans were implemented on different levels.
The primary objective of the project is to provide a sense of modern home to the architecture as well as solve the spatial and construction as insulation.
One of the levels accesses the basement where the service area, boiler room, loggia and parking lots can be found. It also has the connection to the first floor, which was developed outside of the porch and inside the interior stairwell. This is the level where the service area placed overlooks the valley of Santiago. You will also find the great kitchen and the guest bathroom design as well as the dining and living room in this level.
After this level, you can go up half a floor where the bedroom sector is found. This becomes the hinge to access the bedrooms that are essentially part of the house and out to the garden. From the living room, half level goes up to the second level where the lounge area occupies. It is complete with TV room, gym, desk and terrace that overlook the living room.
Ramdohr Arquitectos pulled off this project that has been developed to conform to the existing house floor plans on the first level. The second level on the other hand is transformed as an open space where design elements were intertwined so that the bedroom and the bathroom emerge.
Both levels have a roof that has been defined and developed with a flat roof system emphasizing the horizontal scheme of the house.
The entire house has been defined in all sectors through building an interface which actively enhances the relationship between interiors and exteriors. This was also done to control the transfer of light throughout the enclosures.
The contemporary image sought was achieved and in addition the luscious view of nature through windows is an added value to the house. The improvement in the construction of the house is also achieved. Wood was replaced by metal finishes on the second level. This is done to allow and invite ample light as well as maintain the rigidity of the structure.
Overall, the layout proved to be inspirational on all levels – well-deserving the attention it gets.
