A love-struck couple who got married via video link because they live 3,500 miles apart have finally shared their first kiss - three months after the big day. Syed Islam, from Southampton, Hants, and his blushing bride Monira Chowdhury, from Pennsylvania, America, both 28, had only met face-to-face for ten minutes as children.
Years later they were reunited during a series of internet video Skype sessions in which they fell head over heels in love.
With friends and family watching on both sides of the Atlantic, the couple donned traditional outfits for the internet wedding in September. Now more than 100 days later, the couple have finally met as husband and wife after Monira moved to England.
'I know the marriage was unusual but I could say the distance doesn’t matter in the modern world. 'People can share their lives through modern technology. 'We talked to each other on Skype all the time, we discussed my views and her views and it all came together at one point and we decided to marry.
