A bride-to-be's final dress fitting is always a bit of a tense and emotional affair. But when Kate Puncher realised that her wedding dress was too small, instead of being distraught, she felt a huge sense of achievement. The former anorexic overcame her condition after her fiance bought her a wedding dress two sizes too big - and ordered her to put on three stone to fit into it. She managed to put on even more. Kate, 31, has battled the eating disorder since her teens and once weighed just four stone by surviving on nothing but mints.

The former model was regularly admitted to hospital and doctors warned her she would never have children because her body was so damaged by the condition. But when she got engaged to sweetheart Barry, 30, gave her an ultimatum - start eating or the wedding is off. So unlike most brides who desperately diet into their dresses, Kate had to EAT her way into the outfit - and put on so much weight she even needed the waist let out.

'The thought of putting on weight filled me with terror but I was prepared to do anything to be Barry's wife. 'My mum and sister came with me to try the dress on. The sample dress hung off my skinny frame but looking in the mirror I imagined the glowing, healthy bride I was determined to be.' Kate stopped using laxatives and began eating three full meals a day. She also added red meat to her diet in order to pile on the pounds before her big day.
